Movie Locations I Want To Visit

You guys know that I am all about books. But sometimes I am all about movies too. It's probably no surprise that the Harry Potter movies are some of my favorites, but there are others I am a huge fan of, too. That is why I have some movie locations on my list, that my inner fan girl thinks are worth visiting.

Salzburg, Austria - The Sound of Music (✓)

These locations I already got to visit just recently! You can find filming locations all over the city (and lots of tourists taking pictures, too). I had no idea that the movie was so popular before I came to Salzburg (it actually isn’t super popular in Germany I feel). But the city is really lovely and it's fun discovering all the filming locations. If you want to get more information, check out my post about my stay in Salzburg and The Sound of Music filming locations that I visited

Port Royal, Jamaica - Pirates of the Caribbean

Jo-ho, jo-ho a pirate's life for me! The Caribbean can't be wrong at any time but I would love me to get a bottle of rum and present you with some of my favorite quotes by Jack Sparrow. Captain Jack Sparrow. And then I would love me to get a ship and find me some treasures... jo-ho!

Matamata, New Zealand - The Lord of the Rings

I would love to go to Hobbiton and see me some hobbits! I love the movies (as well as the books) and imagine Hobbiton to be a magical place. Green hills and cute homes - I kinda imagine it to be like Ireland except - small. Here's how this trip would look like: I would take a million pictures and I would share all the Hobbit quotes there ever were plus random Hobbit facts that are essential to life. I bet you guys cannot wait. #sorrynotsorry

The Magic Bus, Alaska - Into The Wild (✓)

This is the number one filming location I wanted to visit ever! And I am glad I actually did make it there before the bus was removed by the Alaskan authorities just recently (which I have to say, I do completely understand).

Glenfinnan, Scotland - Harry Potter

The Glenfinnan Viaduct is the bridge, the Hogwarts Express crosses on its way from Kings Cross Station to Hogwarts. The Jacobsite Steam Train which runs along those tracks was also used as a shot of the Hogwarts Express itself.

Queens Walk in London, UK - Love actually (✓)

Queens Walk runs along with the south bank of the Thames in London. Near Gabriel's Wharf, there is a bench where Sam is confessing his stepdad Daniel that he is - actually - in love.

Griffith Observatory, California - LA LA Land (✓)

This is another movie location I got to visit - just a few weeks after the movie was released, which made it extra cool! I didn’t dance around or anything, but the observatory is definitely worth a visit and you get some beautiful view of the city as well.

Hamakua Coast, Hawaii - Avatar

The Big Island is on my Travel Bucket List anyways, so why not visit the Hamakua Coast, one of the non-CGI backgrounds from David Cameron's Avatar.  With its lush hills and cascading waterfalls, the Hawaiian coast served as the rain forests of Pandora in the movie.

Café Des 2 Moulins, Paris - Amélie POUlain (✓)

For a reason unknown to men this movie is actually fairly popular in Germany, but apparently not so much in France. I, however, like this movie a lot, not only because I absolutely love Yann Tiersen’s unique soundtracks. it is also a truly wonderful story. As this movie is so well known in Germany, this is a popular spot for tourists to visit - including me!

What movie locations do you want to visit? Are there any of the above that you have visited already?
